Jesus Storybook Bible

One of my favorite children’s books is The Jesus Storybook Bible.  And it’s not just for children! We have read through it several times with our boys, and each time my heart is tremendously blessed. If you have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, this book makes an excellent gift that will bless their hearts for years to come. And don’t forget to get a copy for yourself too.

Sally Lloyd-Jones does an amazing job of showing children and adults alike the purpose of the Bible.

“Now, some people think the Bible is a book of rules, telling you what you should and shouldn’t do. The Bible certainly does have some rules in it. They show you how life works best. But the Bible isn’t mainly about you and what you should be doing. It’s about God and what he has done.” (p. 14, emphasis added)

After reading this book, I have begun to read the Scriptures with more child like faith.  As Sally Lloyd-Jones says, “Every story whispers his name.” As I have begun looking for Jesus in every book of the Bible (in every page in fact), my daily time in God’s Word has been transformed!

Another very helpful resource I have found to go along with The Jesus Storybook Bible is this printable list of Jesus in all the books of the Bible. I printed it out and keep it in my Prayer notebook for easy reference. Now, as I follow my daily Bible reading plan, I can refer to this list to see how Jesus is revealed in that book of the Bible.

I love God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” I pray this precious children’s book and the list of Jesus in every book of the Bible will help you as you seek him with all your heart.
