My hubby got me several new cookbooks for Christmas (yes, he’s an amazing guy!).  I can sit and read cookbooks like some people sit and read novels.  I even poured over the recipes in the Southern Living magazines that were in our Bed & Breakfasts on our honeymoon. I was a tad excited to start cooking delicious meals for my man.

So, anytime I come across a good cookbook, I just have to share it with y’all!  My criteria for a good cookbook?

  1. The recipes need to be healthy.  I’m looking for recipes that I can make for my family during the week that will nourish and strengthen them.
  2. The recipes need to be easy.  Okay, I confess that although I love to cook, I don’t like complicated recipes that have me pulling out lots of ingredients and pots and pans.  I like simple and easy.
  3. The recipes need to taste yummy.  A recipe can be easy and healthy, but let’s face it, if it doesn’t taste good, I won’t be making it again!

The following cookbooks meet all 3 of my criteria.  If you like to cook (or if you like to eat, and who doesn’t?), I highly recommend adding these cookbooks to your repertoire.

Easy Paleo MealsEasy Paleo Meals.  I have Kelly Brozyna’s other cookbook, The Spunky Coconut Cookbook (which I think is currently out of print 🙁 ) and love it, so I was super excited to try her latest cookbook.  And it does not disappoint!  One of my favorite parts about the book is Kelly’s section on meal planning and kitchen and pantry organization.  They were so helpful, and I got some great ideas on how to organize my new pantry.  If you’re interested in the Gluten-free, Dairy-free lifestyle, check out Kelly’s helpful blog, The Spunky Coconut.  One of my favorite recipes in this book is the Sunbutter Freezer Fudge.  It is so good…and healthy!

Simple Green SmoothiesSimple Green Smoothies.  I discovered the Simply Green Smoothies website not long ago on Instagram, and I’m so glad I did. They have so many different smoothie recipes, you’ll never get bored. Their “cookbook” is full of beautiful, colorful photography and helpful tips and tricks on how to incorporate green smoothies into your everyday life.  Every time I look at the pictures in the book, I want to get up and go make a smoothie!  If you want to test one of their smoothie recipes before you buy the book, try the Beginner’s Luck Green Smoothie.

Against All GrainAgainst All Grain: Meals Made Simple.  Danielle Walker’s fabulous blog, Against All Grain, is chock full of delicious recipes that are grain-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free.  I was so excited to get this cookbook, because I already knew it was good (I had checked it out from the library and decided I needed to ask for my own copy for Christmas!).  With helpful make-ahead recipes like Pancake Mix and Scone Mix, you can have everything ready to go for delicious and healthy breakfasts and snacks.

What are your favorite healthy cookbooks? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
