I am so excited about today’s post! My super talented cousin, Rachel Cook, is the founder and creative talent of Live Truth Designs. She uses her talent of hand lettering and her love of God’s Word to create beautiful prints. You will definitely want to check out her website. And make sure to enter our giveaway at the end of this post for a chance to win the beautiful Nehemiah 8:10 print that Rachel created above!
Check out my interview with Rachel below:
1) I love the name of your company, Live Truth Designs! How did you come up with that name?
Scripture tells us that “to live is Christ!” (Phil. 1:21) and I want others to know that truth. I believe that the art that gets shared on social media or in someone’s home helps encourage others to know who Christ is and to equip and sharpen them to walk in truth with God. The more I doodle His truth, the more it sinks in and quenches my spiritual thirst – this only enhances my desire to encourage others! That’s how Live Truth Designs came about!
2) How did you become interested in hand lettering?
I’ve always doodled with different medias and have had multiple creative outlets but hand lettering caught my attention a few years ago! I saw that there was no end to the possibilities and no verse in the Bible that couldn’t be hand lettered.
3) Do you have a favorite Scripture, and if so, why is it so meaningful to you?
My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I have clung to this verse ever since I came home my sophomore year of college and had to tell my parents that life wasn’t going to end up how we planned. 9 months later I held my baby boy for the first time and realized that the Lord wasn’t calling me to a life of destruction but to a life filled with hope and a future in Him. This verse has encouraged me to lean on and trust in Him even when times get hard.
4) Do you have any advice for women who want to turn their hobbies into a business but don’t know how to get started?
If it is your dream to be your won boss, don’t give up! It’s not an easy road and it comes with failure and challenges, but it is worth it! Set goals and don’t be afraid to barge into communities and networks of already well established small business owners! Many are willing and ready to help you!
5) What are your favorite things to do to stay healthy and happy?
I enjoy spending time with my son! He helps keep me active and healthy with all of our ongoing extra curricular activities!
