Sometimes our skin needs additional help in the areas of dryness, wrinkles, sensitivity or acne. That’s where products like serums and oils can be very helpful. They help infuse the skin with beneficial ingredients and tend to be a bit more potent than a moisturizer. These treatments works best when applied after you’ve cleansed and exfoliated your skin. After applying the treatment for your skin type, apply your favorite moisturizer. If you use one of these treatments during the day, make sure to follow-up with a sunscreen.
Here are some treatments that will help to get your skin healthy and glowing:
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C is a very potent antioxidant that helps to fight free radicals on our skin. It helps boost collagen production in the skin, and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. It also really helps make sunscreen even more effective, as it protects against UVA/UVB rays. Many vitamin c serums can irritate the skin, but the serum from Mad Hippie is very gentle. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which is very moisturizing to the skin. They also have a Vitamin A serum (which is a natural, safer form of retinol) that I can’t wait to try.
Acure Organic Argan Oil – Argan oil has been dubbed “liquid gold” by many as it has many skin healing and soothing properties. It is full of essential fatty acids and is rich in vitamin e, making it a wonderful oil for healing scars, and restoring skin’s elasticity. A little goes a long way. This oil is great to have on hand. I even use it on the ends of my hair and cuticles!
Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum – Juice Beauty is such a great brand that uses high quality, organic plant ingredients. This is a light, yet nourishing serum that is quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It is chock full of organic plant oils and juices, and it has a lovely, citrus scent. My skin has a nice, subtle glow when I use this serum.
Other Products I plan to try:
Devita High Performance Glycolic Acid Blend – Devita is a high-quality brand that is very reasonably priced. This serum features glycolic acid from fruit, which has been shown to get rid of dead skin cells, revealing brighter and more radiant skin. Studies have shown glycolic acid to be a very safe and effective anti-aging treatment. I have had great success with other Devita products and look forward to giving this one a try.
Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum – Retinol (Vitamin A) has been the darling of the skin care industry for reducing wrinkles and reversing the damaging effects of the sun on skin. It can, however, be very irritating to the skin, causing burning and peeling. Mychelle is an all-natural line that uses retinal (Retinaldehyde), which is a non-irritating form of vitamin A. It also includes other skin-loving plant ingredients.
If you feel your skin needs a little extra TLC, then I highly recommend choosing one of these treatment for your skin. Or do a little sleuthing yourself, and check out all of the other great products these brands have to offer. You just might find something else that would suite your skin even better!
Next week, we’ll try to finish up our series with non-toxic haircare and make-up recommendations. Let me know if you have questions concerning any of these products or recommendations for skin issues that may not have been mentioned.
