Dreamsicle Fat-Burning Smoothie

Dreamsicle

This smoothie is so refreshing and satisfying on a hot summer day.
I had it for lunch the other day, and it kept me going until dinner time.

One of the stars of this smoothie is the whey protein.  Whey is a wonderful source of fat-burning protein, and it helps to boost glutathione levels in the body.  Glutathione is known as the “master antioxidant.”  Antioxidants help fight free radicals in our bodies, which are known to cause disease and inflammation.  Glutathione also helps cleanse the liver, our body’s main detoxifying and fat-burning organ.

Whey protein also contains all the essential amino acids our bodies need.  Amino acids are the building blocks of our cells.  I consider whey protein a superfood, because it detoxifies the body, burns fat, and provides essential nutrients we need to function at our best.  One of my favorite brands is Jay Robb Whey Protein.  It’s free of hormones and pesticides, and it creates a super creamy smoothie.  Another really good brand is Tera’s Whey Organic.  It contains whey from certified organic, grass fed cows.

I also peeled and separated the segments of several clementines, and then I put them in the freezer.  I find that frozen fruit makes for a creamier smoothie.  The greek yogurt also adds a boost of probiotics and protein.

This is great after a workout or as a meal replacement on a busy day.  The flavor reminds me of those Dreamsicles I used to eat as a kid.  Only this smoothie helps burn the pounds, not add them!
