“Never, never, never give up.”  Winston Churchill

“With self-discipline  most anything is possible.”  Theodore Roosevelt

I recently saw this inspiring video through Dave Ramsey’s website.  Bryan Ganey shares how with hard work and a lot of self-discipline, he was able to get out of debt and lose over 400 pounds!

Bryan’s testimony has motivated me to keep going, to keep pursuing my goals.  It’s reminded me that, as the saying goes, the bridge between goals and accomplishments is discipline.  Whether my goal is getting out of debt, losing weight and eating healthier, or starting a new business, all can be accomplished with self-discipline.  The choices I make each day will either get me one step closer to accomplishing my goals, or they will take me one step back.  The choice is mine.

One important lesson I’m learning with regards to self-discipline is to become a doer rather than a feeler.  I don’t know about you, but typically if I don’t feel like doing something, I don’t do it!  And the result?  A messy house.  Eating lots of junk food. Getting sick.  Spending too much money.  Sleeping in late.  Missing time with the Lord.  I’ve realized that if I don’t discipline myself to do something even when I don’t feel like it, I will eventually look back on my life with great regret.

Discipline takes a lot of hard work and a lot of doing.  But guess what you will feel as a result of becoming a disciplined doer?  Happy!  You will begin making better choices; you will make the most of your time; you will spend money wisely; you will lose weight and feel energized; and you’ll feel less stressed.  All because you learned the art of self-discipline.

What are your goals?  What do you want to see happen in your life?   Don’t give up!  Keep on keeping on.  And as you make one disciplined choice after another, you will begin to see your goals and dreams become a reality!
