When it comes to having a healthy body, you want to make sure your kitchen is well-equipped with the right appliances. Here are some of my favorite kitchen appliances and gadgets that making healthy eating a breeze!
VitaMix – Every healthy kitchen needs a high quality blender, and Vitamix blenders are as good as they come! They are pricey, but they are worth every penny. From making healthy soups and nut butters to grinding your own flour and blending green smoothies, the Vitamix can do it all. Think of this blender as an investment in your health – it’s worth saving for!
NutriBullet – Second to my Vitamix, my NutriBullet is my favorite kitchen appliance. It makes blending my green smoothies a cinch, and clean-up is so easy. If a Vitamix is not in your budget right now, the NutriBullet is a much more affordable blender that still gets the job done. And with a huge database of delicious and healthy recipes, you’ll never be left wondering what to make with it!
Green juices are so good for your health, but the price tag on most juicers can be pretty steep. I love my Breville Compact Juice Fountain, because it doesn’t take up a lot of space, it creates delicious, fresh juices, and it’s very affordable!
Crockpot Slow Cooker – Every kitchen needs a slow cooker! From making soups and stews to slow cooking potatoes, you can cook just about anything in a slow cooker. I use my Crockpot 7-qt. oval slow cooker all the time. It really saves me so much time in the kitchen, especially on busy days during the week. Need recipe ideas for your slow cooker? Mason or Ball Jars – No healthy kitchen is complete without a variety of Mason or Ball Jars. They are perfect for making green smoothies and juices, storing salads and yogurt parfaits, and storing food in the fridge or freezer. I’m loving these fun spiral jars! Check out this post for more ideas.
Healthy Cookware – When I cook, I avoid using non-stick pots and pans due to the toxic chemicals used. These chemicals are then absorbed by the food being cooked, which is detrimental to health. I also avoid using aluminum cookware as that is also leached into food and is a neurotoxin. Instead, I opt for stainless steel pots and pans, cast iron skillets, and ceramic cookware. These are much safer and healthier options for you and your family.
In addition to a healthy diet, the right supplements can tremendously improve the quality of your health. Check out my favorites below!
Lifelong Vitality Pack – These supplements are hands-down the best I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot)!! I could tell an immediate difference in my energy levels, skin, hair, and mood. I don’t ever want to be without these supplements!
TerraZyme Digestive Enzymes – As we age our digestive enzymes decrease. Proper digestion of our food is essential in order to absorb all the nutrients from our food. These digestive enzymes work wonders at helping to easily digest food!
Pb Assist – I always recommend that everyone be on a high quality probiotic. Probiotics are critical for digestive health as they help populate the gut with good bacteria and strengthen the immune system. I love how Pb Assist contains multiple strains of bacteria, ensuring that I get a variety of good bacteria.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides – More and more studies are showing the multitude of health benefits that come from supplementing with collagen. From gut and joint health to glowing skin, you’ll want to include collagen into your diet. My favorite brand is from Vital Proteins, because their collagen is from cows that are grass fed and pasture raised. It’s the highest quality I’ve found. It’s completely tasteless – I add a scoop to my morning coffee (it makes it taste creamier). Not only am I getting all the benefits of collagen, but I’m also getting a whopping 18g of protein!
What goes on our body is just as important as what goes in our body. Our skin is our largest organ, and whatever we put on it is absorbed into our bloodstream and can impact our health. That’s why choosing non-toxic skincare is so important. But you also want it to be effective. Below are some of my favorite non-toxic and effective skincare products that will leave you healthy and glowing!
Verage Skincare Line – I absolutely love this entire line. They are full of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils (like Frankincense, Sandalwood, Myrrh, Lavender, Basil, and Ylang Ylang) that go to work on a cellular level to reveal healthier, younger looking skin. I use the entire line – cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and serum – and there’s not one product I don’t love. And it smells intoxicating!
Mychelle Vitamin C Products – Vitamin C is a potent and powerful vitamin for the skin that helps reduce sun damage as well as stimulate collagen production. However, many Vitamin C products on the market are toxic and highly irritating. I have super sensitive skin, so I was really hesitant to try any Vitamin C products. Mychelle uses the most stable form of Vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), along with a host of other non-toxic plant ingredients, that combine to form wonderful products that help to fight sun damage.
Non-Toxic Sunscreen – One of the best things you can do to prevent damage to your skin and look younger longer is to wear sunscreen everyday. However, many sunscreens on the market are full of toxic ingredients that are detrimental to your health. But finding a natural sunscreen that works well can be tricky. Here are a few of my favorite brands that are non-greasy, don’t cause breakouts, don’t leave a white residue, and protect my skin from the sun. I’ve had success with all of these:
- Devita Solar care
- Derma E Antioxidant sunscreen
- Mychelle Replenishing Solar Defense
- Andalou Naturals Tinted Color Corrector
Non-Toxic MakeUp – I love anything that Vapour Cosmetic makes! I love their Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation. It’s completely non-toxic and creates a beautiful glow on my skin. It also does not cause breakouts! I also love their concealer, eye shadows, and lip tints. It’s a bit pricey but a little goes a long way, so it lasts a long time. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly brand, I also like Pacifica. They have a clean line of non-toxic eye shadows, blush, and mascara.
I debated on where to put this category, because essential oils can benefit both body and mind. I honestly don’t remember what I used to do before I started using essential oils. They are now one of the first natural remedies I reach for! There are too many oils to list here, so I’ll mention the kit that started it all for me. The Home Essentials Kit comes with 10 oils that address a host of common issues and includes an adorable Petal diffuser. Since I started using this kit, I haven’t looked back – I am now a certified oil lover! 🙂
Having a healthy body is only part of the equation. Having a happy soul is the other part. They are like 2 sides of the same coin. To live a full and happy life, we need to tend to and cultivate both sides of the coin. The following is a list of books and other products that have helped me cultivate a happy soul:
ESV Personal Sized Study Bible – No list would be complete for me without first mentioning the most important book for cultivating a happy soul – The Book – God’s inspired and holy Word. I begin each day in God’s Word and in prayer. My relationship with the Lord is my #1 priority, and it affects everything else in my life! I love my ESV Personal Sized Study Bible, because it has so many fabulous notes, charts, illustrations, and maps, and it’s not too big and bulky. I also love my ESV Journaling Bible, which is perfect for taking notes and journaling insights in the margin. I go back and forth between the two.
30 Days to Becoming a Woman of Prayer – I am a big Stormie Omartian fan, and I love all her books. If I had to choose, though, this book would probably be my favorite. This book taught me how to live a praying life and submit every area of my life to God in prayer. It’s practical and devotional at the same time. If you’re looking to strengthen your prayer life, I highly recommend this book!
The 4:8 Principle – Very few books would I put in the category of life-changing (other than the Bible). This book and its companion, 40 Days to a Joy-Filled Life, have had a tremendous impact on my thought life and helping me to be aware of what I’m thinking at any given moment. Based on Philippians 4:8, The 4:8 Principle will help you learn to think Biblically, focus on your blessings, counteract negativity, and experience incredible joy in your life. I can’t recommend these books enough!
I hope you got some great ideas to help get you started on having a healthy body and happy soul! Again, make sure to check back often, as I’m constantly adding new products and recommendations.
