Lord, Change Me

Lord, change me

I recently finished Lord Change Me, by James MacDonald.  It was the title that first caught my attention, because that is a prayer that I pray often.  And it’s a prayer that I truly believe the Lord answers!

So, I was excited when Moody Publishers sent me a copy of this book.  And I was not disappointed. MacDonald does a thorough job of explaining what true, Biblical change looks like.  He then explains how we can experience that change.

The book is divided into 3 parts:

  • Part 1 – The Preparation for Change
  • Part 2 – The Process of Change
  • Part 3 – The Power to Change

My favorite was part 3, because ultimately, it’s the most important.  Perhaps, like me, you’ve tried to change many times in a particular area (i.e. be more patient, get up earlier, stop snapping at the kids, eat healthier, etc.), but after so many resolutions, goals, and strong starts, you find yourself quickly reverting back to your bad habits or particular sins.  MacDonald points out that while parts 1 and 2 are very important, they are ultimately useless without part 3 (perhaps you know what it is already, but I don’t want to spoil it 😉 ).

This book is chock full of Scripture on every page, and will encourage you and give you the resources to change, no matter what area in your life you’re working on.  While I don’t agree with everything he says, I still highly recommend this excellent book for those of you who have been trying to change but seem to be stuck.  I’ve begun implementing just a few of the things I learned in this book, and I’m already seeing changes!
