melaleuca

I’m continuing my series of the Top 10 Oils and 10 Ways you can use them (see previous posts for oils we’ve already covered). Today’s oil is melaleuca, also known as tea tree oil. Melaleuca should be in every natural medicine cabinet, because it’s great for so many issues! Check out 10 of my favorite ways to use this oil:

1. Skin Rejuvenator

Add several drops to your moisturizer to help with blemishes and other skin imperfections. Or use alone for an effective spot treatment!  You can also check out my Glowing Skin Serum.

2. Bathroom Cleaner

Melaleuca’s natural cleansing properties make it an ideal oil to add to cleaning and room spray recipes. Combine with Lemon, white vinegar and distilled water for an effective cleaner for your tub, toilet, shower, and sinks!  Or check out my amazing Soap Scum Remover!

3. Healthy Scalp

Melaleuca is great for a number of scalp conditions and works to purify the scalp and help with healthy hair growth. Add several drops to shampoo or check out my Healthy Hair Rinse recipe!

4. Clean MakeUp Brushes

Get rid of the gunk and germs from your makeup brushes by adding several drops of melaleuca to a jar with distilled water. Try adding a teaspoon of OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate to boost the cleansing power. Your makeup brushes will be super clean!

5. Strengthen Nails

Having fingernail issues? Rub a drop or two of melaleuca directly over nails to help clear up any nail issues and to strengthen them.

6. Strengthen Immune System

Feeling run down? Combine 10 drops each Melaleuca, Frankincense, Lemon, and OnGuard in a 10 ml rollerball and top with FCO (fractionated coconut oil) for immune protection!

7. Soothe a Bug Bite

Apply a drop or two with one drop of Lavender onto a bug bite for relief from itching and swelling.

8. Room Spray

To naturally freshen a room, combine Melaleuca with Rosemary, Lavender and Peppermint in a spray bottle with distilled water and spray for instant fresh. You could also use pure witch hazel rather than water and use as a bathroom spray.

9. Laundry Freshener

Add several drops to your laundry load to get rid of stinky smells and freshen the load.

10. Outdoor Protection

Bugs don’t like melaleuca, so it’s the perfect oil to rub on your ankles and pulse points for time spent outdoors! Or try combining 10 drops each Melaleuca, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, and Lavender to a spray bottle with distilled water and spray over ankles and wrists when headed outdoors. You’ll smell fresh and clean, but the bugs won’t like it!
