I recently read 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse by J.J. Smith. I loved this book for several reasons – it’s well-researched, it’s easy to understand, the plan is simple to follow, and she includes modified versions if you do not want to do the full cleanse. There is also a chapter with success stories and testimonials that really inspired me.
She explains in simple terms why cleansing the body is so important for overall health, and then she provides a simple 10 day plan to follow. This plan does not require counting calories, buying lots of groceries, or depriving yourself. She explains why green smoothies are such nutritional powerhouses and why they are the perfect food to cleanse your body. If you don’t want to do the full cleanse (which requires drinking smoothies all day), she offers modified plans for incorporating 1 to 2 smoothies per day with other healthy food options.
Smith provides a number of smoothie recipes (most of which contain ingredients you can easily find in your grocery store) as well as supplement recommendations that would be helpful to support the body during a cleanse.
I think this is a great read whether you want to do a cleanse or not. The principles provided in this book will inspire you to begin including a green smoothie in your daily menu plan. There is ample evidence to prove that including plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit (particularly in the form of smoothies) helps protect the body against various diseases and infuses our cells with nutrients, antioxidants, and energy. And it really can’t get any easier than throwing everything in a blender!
Don’t let the word “cleanse” scare you away from reading this book. I highly recommend it for the health tips, recipes, and inspiration to start eating plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and green smoothies. I truly believe that including at least 1 green smoothie into your diet each day is one of the easiest ways to start experiencing more energy, clearer skin, better digestion, and weight loss. This book will help you do that!
